OpenEndedness: The Final Goalpost of AI
Abstract
In this talk, I’ll discuss the different types of novelty generated by natural and artificial systems. First, taking as an example the different AI discoveries in Science, different contributions are classified in their novelty categories. Finally, I outline what a truly transformational discovery would look like in the field of material science and how AI could aid in its realization.
